Rochon was born in Torrance (a suburb in Los Angeles), is the daughter of Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos High school, Cerritos California is the place where Rochon graduated from high school in 1982. In 1986 she earned her degree with honors from California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) in which she obtained a bachelor's in broadcast journalism. She also earned minors in theatre and sociology. Rochon has returned to CSUDH in 2016, was the keynote speaker at CSUDH's College of Arts and Humanities graduation ceremonies.

Ullerup starred as Bree O'Brien on Chesapeake Shores in the year 2016. Ullerup appeared as Maggie Thomas as the estranged ex-wife of Michael Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact. Ullerup plays the part in the film as Dale Travers, is one of the recurring characters in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films since the year 2016.
